| I've been
involved in Art most of my life but, like most Artists, I've had
to do other things to make ends meet. For nearly a decade I worked
for a family business. Some of you may have purchased our products.
Mainly, I did sales. I had a killer close.
Don Sweet, CEO of Sweet's Candies, asked me once,
'Why should I buy from you? I can get this product in 2 other places
right down the street." "Three reasons" I shot back,
"My Grandma, my Aunt and Me." I explained that my Grandmother,
sitting right over there, has more retail experience in her little
finger than all of our competitors combined. My Aunt is an amazing,
creative woman who works her butt off to make the best product you
can buy anywhere, at any price, and me because those two babes are
teaching me everything they know." He bought.
Through Shear Comfort I've selected locations, worked
the stores, stocked warehouses, handled inventory, trained employees
and dealt with licensees. I've worked trade shows until I was hoarse
(I love trade shows) and done some old fashioned horse trading.
I've argued marketing strategy, bought ad space, fought with the
city, been to court. I've cut deals, salaries and slack. I've written
scripts, polished pitches, flown by the seat of my pants, greased
palms, taken a beating and been King of the Hill.
So now that I'm a graphic artist why should you ask
me to help you design your sales material? I'll give you three reasons...
